Professional Background
Mark earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Economics from the University of North Dakota in 1974, followed by a Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1977. His early legal career included serving as the managing attorney of the Legal Aid Society of Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, from 1977-1978. He then joined H.E.L.P. Legal Services in Davenport, Iowa, where he directed the Senior Citizen Law Project and later served as the managing director until 1983.
In 1983, Mark moved to Chicago and became a partner at Potter & Schaffner, P.C. In 2003, he established the Law Offices of Mark Schaffner, P.C., focusing his practice on workers' compensation and personal injury, serving clients throughout northern Illinois.
